Amplified Splitters

If you have cable, you can usually split the signal with passive splitters up to four times without noticable signal degradation. For more than a four-way split, or if you have an antenna, use an amplified splitter.

If you want also have infrared (IR) distribution:

  1. Choose a video distribution module with a built-in IR engine. (H838HHR/838BID/881)
  2. Place an IR pickup at each TV location.
  3. Use a modulator with built-in IR control (H542/544/562/564) on the device such as a DVD, VCR, or Satellite receiver that you wish to distribute and control. The coax out of the modulator should eventually connect to an input of the video distribution module.
  4. Plug one or more H973 emitters into the modulator and attach to the IR window of the device you wish to control.

H838HHR
3 In, 8 Out Video Distribution Module w/High Headroom
  • Distributes CATV or antenna to 8 TVs
  • Two modulator inputs to add locally generated channels (such as a camera or DVD)
  • High headroom amplifier
  • IR repeating system using 5 volt targets
  • Antenna isolation compliant with FCC part 15 requirements
  • Instruction Sheet
This device combines an amplifier, splitter, combiner, and an IR engine in one package. The High Headroom amplifier handles varying signal strengths better, such as a strong modulated channel and weak antenna channel. This is particularly important when trying to receive weak UHF HDTV signals.

H838BID
3 In, 8 Out Bi-Directional Video Distribution Module
  • Distributes CATV or antenna to 8 TVs
  • Two modulator inputs to add locally generated channels (such as a camera or DVD)
  • Bi-directional with a 5-42 MHz return path
  • IR repeating system using 5 volt targets
  • Instruction Sheet
This device combines an amplifier, splitter, combiner, and an IR engine in one package. The Bi-Directional amplifier stage allows the use of most cable-modems on any output.

H816BID
1 In, 6 Out Video Distribution Module
  • Distributes CATV or antenna to 6 TVs
  • Four standard outputs (up to 75 feet)
  • Two long outputs (up to 150 feet)
  • Bi-directional with a 5-42 MHz return path
  • Can be mounted upside down
  • Instruction Sheet
